To help seniors maintain a healthy life style and to enjoy a life of independence for as long as possible.

Online Bulletin:

PASCCO needs community support
The current financial crisis has greatly affected the programs and services of the Samahan Senior Center. It is in dire need of reserve operational funds to effectively respond to the needs of its clientele. In a meeting with the County officials of Aging and Independence, Health and Human Services, the Samahan Senior Center Staff were advised to maintain a reserve fund of at least $60,000 in order to be out of the ALERT list. As it is, Samahan Senior Center has been marked for closure since the beginning of 2008 for failure to maintain an operational fund. Hence, PASCCO is appealing for donations from the general public in order to be in good standing as a service organization.
The positive note in the Samahan Senior Center`s operation is the willingness of the County officials to dialogue with the staff in order to maintain program operations. They provided one time funds to purchase new tables and chairs and also gave a brand new HOT SHOT Van for the delivery of hot meals to seniors in the North County area. Food served at the Mira Mesa Senior Center is under the Nutrition Program of the Samahan Senior Center.

PASCCO was organized in 1976 as a non-profit agency to meet the needs and serve the interests and concerns of older Filipino adults. It manages the Samahan Nutrition Project and Adult Day Care Program. It serves congregate meals at FAVA Hall and delivers meals to homebound seniors. It also provides recreational activities, such as BINGO, casino field trips, spiritual enrichment sessions, aerobics, health screening and counseling, health and nutrition education.
PASCCO is the only Filipino senior organization that has a contractual relationship with the County of San Diego and City of San Diego.
